Are we perhaps looking at an artifact of Yig, Father of Serpents? Hard-boiled Seamus may not buy into it, but those that were at the Mausoleum last night know this funky stuff is happening.
Edit: Seamus' comment regarding the spam mail (A reptile dysfunctions) supports the theory.

Donnie - I never picked up on that one - reptile - intersting! The 'mob' thing looks interesting too. I need to do more reading and googling!

Thought I'd post my random thoughts from the Wayward backers forum based on here/G+ and Wayward Backer Eric's post to the Providence Mob Family:
I'm reading through it to see if there is any tie to the Twin Rivers Casino and anything Reptilian about it, given Seamus' "Reptile Dysfunction" comments (thanks Donnie). Also, I have Lovecrafts entire works to wade through. Also, the bowling bag thing is a good point, if the orb is the size of a bowling ball - could we be looking for a mafia boss who is a bowler or runs a bowling alley? One that has a reptilian name - i.e. Lizard's Bowling Alley - run by Donnie DeSnako?
Sorry, as I said, random thoughts!

Beginning with the initial information forwarded from Seamus, who is focusing on ZZ Top at the Twin River Casino this weekend, I located a tavern nearby called L A Baileys that hosts card leagues (poker) and a guy can get a drink. This satisfies the two criteria given, but may be a false lead as I don't have anything else specific pointing to this location. I also supplied him with a general list of other establishments to check out in the nearby area.
Sounds like people may have hit upon something else, such as a mob connection, but I've no idea what that connection is.
If you have other clue, information, or thoughts, please share them. Thanks!

I would like to know if there is a way to find out how much the item weighs. If you don't dread on the size and shape if it weighs very little the options of transport change. Other ways to transport the orb could be in band equipment, tool boxes.
I think Seamus should keep an eye out for deliveries. Plenty of places that will pick up a package and deliver it discreetly.

Donnie, the only thing known about a mob connection is that there might be a mob connection. There's some comments on the Google+ page where people were discussing the orb photo but not much else going on right now that I can tell.

I've seen plenty of mob movies where a mafia organization would use places like Casinos and Bowling alleys as fronts to pass stolen goods and launder money. I believe the thief is hiding in the casino. No one is gonna look twice at someone gambling in a casino whether they have a bowling bag or not.

Close-up. Yeah I see something ominous staring out. BTW Shane, you got mad skills.

So have just finished reading The Curse of Yig and I'm with Donnie on this one. I had originally been focussing on Marceline in Medusa's Coil but the head on the plinth in Shane's pic looks more masculine so yeah, The Father of Serpents seemed about right. I can't find anything on an orb in the story though - is that a Lovecraftian thing that all these entities are somehow always contained within a stone or an orb or a vessel of some kind?
Also the other thing I'm having difficulty with is Seamus is looking for information on a mobster. Also, Seamus said the Police were involved and that Campbell was taken away by the Police - Seamus was on his way to see if he could get in to see him so I think something is going to go down at the Police Station. Maybe?

Also over at the WBers a lot of us are new to ARGs and Lovecraft so I think we need some direction on this one. We are useless detective. Great googlers but useless detectives.

Google-fu is your best tool in all ARGs. A diverse group with multiple knowledge bases helps great. What one person may lack others will bring. We're all doing great so far!

Thanks Yankeee! My google finger hurts and I've had a crash course in Lovecraft but it's all fun! AND something is going down at the moment. Seamus has gone mad and Weatherford is sending a minion off to retrieve the artifact. We may need his help to go save Seamus at the Sanitarium though so waiting to hear back from him. Poor Seamus, he sounds two sandwiches short of a picnic.

Aaaww looks like The Unluckiest Detective is locked up in Arkham Sanatarium now and the artefact is back in safe keeping thanks to W.
We need a new case! I'm addicted!

I think the artifact has affected Seamus in some way. Lovecraftian artifacts are not good for those without the strongest of constitutions.

Before Seamus had tracked down the artifact he sent me to find out information on a Edward C. Lato apparently this guy has one hell of a bad case of racketeering and apparently has a way to keep from doing time for it.

We're still picking up the pieces, but this case has come to a sudden conclusion this afternoon. Seamus and the thief are in the sanitarium, W. has the stolen orb, and we don't really know any details on exactly what went down. We should work on getting Seamus' Google+ posts and replies archived here for all to read.

It can't be over what are we gonna do about poor Seamus? Has anyone heard word from W. about the "Orb" that thing sounds real dangerous.
