Here's the e-mail I got for the new case, including a link to a blog. My dear investigators, I have recently gotten an email about a strange man who says he is being followed. I am not sure if he is telling the truth or completely off his rocker. If you would be ever so kind to look into this that would be much appreciated. He gave me his blog which he said “revealed all” but I cannot make much sense out of it. Maybe you will be able to. Here is a link for his blog joshblot.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2013-11-13T17:27:00-08:00&max-results=7Yours, W

It sounds like it may already be too late for Mr. Blot. Hrm, a sword that drives its owner mad, with what appears to be a protector of some sorts that strives to erase information about the weapon once it's been used. I have a few ideas, I'll do some quick searches and come back with my results.

Interesting Wikipedia article that may relate to the situation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MuramasaSpecific excerpt of note... There is a legend of a Masamune blade and a Muramasa blade being put into a river strewn with lotus leaves. The leaves swirled around the Masamune blade untouched, but the Muramasa blade would cut them. Leaves again, eh? Interesting...

Apologies for the third post, but I seem to recall there being a legend of one of the Outer Gods having a guise that would wander around and hide the truth about mystical and Mythos events from investigators. I don't recall how much truth there was to the legend.

I think the blade/leaves connection is definitely something worth noting. I'm going to try to connect with Josh on his blog and see if he replies.

Alright, from what I read the "aspect" which covers things up seems to be a "mask" of the outer god Nyarlathotep. I can't find much more information confirming that he does indeed have a Mask dedicated to erasing evidence, so we may want to put such a possibility on the back burner. After all, it's far more likely that Mr. Blot was assaulted by a mortal agent.

I am having difficulties with using the blog. If someone could ask him whether the figure resists illumination, as though the light itself refuses to sign upon it, it might be helpful in determining the pursuer's identity. Yes, I'm still clinging a bit to my Mask theory despite its low probability.

It seems a lot is left intentionally vague but I'm making a few connections here. Jerry is the boss. He went on vacation in July to Little China in LA were he picked up the katana. The katana is that 'Something' Josh mentions on 7/24: "He says he bought something on his last vacation and he’ll show it to me if I can keep up."

I have been going over the blogs and if there was a way to get Josh an Omamori of the yaku-yoke variety to that it can ward off the bad spirits surrounding him we need to hurry time is of the essence. It appears Jerry had one, but it disappeared one day and that was when he started to feel ill. These can be requested from a priest of a Shinto shrine and are made for the purpose that is needed.

I agree with Demetrius. Typically you want something of the same spiritual system as what you're warding off. If you're facing the minions of an ill-intentioned Loa, you contact a Voudouist. If you're being hunted by the curse-made-manifest of a katana, you contact a Shinto priest/priestess for their assistance.
However, with the threat as advanced as it currently is, it might help to place shinto scrits that aid with sealing upon the sword itself. I would imagine keeping the weapon sheathed and wrapping it from pommel to tip of the scabbard in such writings, even using the scrits to prevent the sword from being drawn again, may work.
